Money-Doubling Ritual Turns Deadly in Chhattisgarh, Three Found Dead

Raipur: The discovery of the dead bodies of three people from a farmhouse in Kudri village of Korba late on Wednesday night created a stir in the area. The deceased have been identified as scrap dealers Mohammed Ashraf Memon, Suresh Sahu, and Nitish Kumar. In the initial investigation, the matter looks mysterious and suspicious; hence, the police have taken it seriously. 

Are these deaths linked to tantric rituals and promises of doubling money?

According to the police and local sources, it was explained to the deceased that an amount of Rs 5 lakh could be converted into Rs 2.5 crore through tantra-mantra. The alleged 'Baiga' and his team had come to the farmhouse to perform rituals, and the incident took place there. This point has come up in many news reports and has been made the primary focus of investigation. 

Were mysterious marks and signs of ritual found on the bodies?

Relatives and locals claimed that a lemon was found in the mouth of one of the bodies and that all three had strangulation marks on their necks. The police have recovered puja-related items, cash, and suspicious items from the spot and sent them for forensic investigation. These first steps strengthened the suspicion that the case was not simply a natural death. 

What action has the police taken so far, and who has been detained?

Korba SP said that based on preliminary evidence, five people have been detained, including the alleged Tantrik. The investigation team is connecting the sequence of events through call details, digital footprints, and detailed investigation of the incident site. Postmortem and forensic reports will be important in the investigation.

Police are currently investigating in every direction. A mistake in the tantric ritual, a fraud to double the money, or a pre-planned murder—all three possibilities are being investigated in detail. Local people also said that earlier there were also reports of strange activities in that farmhouse; hence, the team is collecting evidence very carefully.
